What will be covered?
Who is ‘Introduction to Rock Climbing’ for?
Other Questions
What if the weather is bad?
We will endeavour to spend as much time as possible out on the crags, however if the weather is bad we can often cover many of the skills in the climbing wall.
How do I book?
Once you have decided which course you would like to do send an email to enquire about the dates that suit you. I will then let you know if an instructor is available.
If you have any other questions about this course please get in touch. You can either email or phone (I am out climbing through the day with limited phone signal, so leave a message and I will call you back or send me an email).
If you are looking for a course for a large group or group of young people please have a look at our group adventure site - www.snowdoniaoutdooradventure.co.uk
This course is for people who have little or no rock climbing experience. You can try a day of rock climbing outside to see if you like it, or opt for a longer course to develop your skills so that you feel happy heading to the local climbing wall after your course.
The Introduction to Rock Climbing course is run at a maximum ratio of 1 instructor : 4 participants. 1:4 is a great ratio for a day of trying out rock climbing. We would recommend 1:2 for longer courses so that you can get the most out of your experience. This ensures that we can cover the basics thoroughly and you will feel confident to head off to the climbing wall or bouldering at the end of your course. What we can cover:
Rock Climbing Equipment - harness, rock shoe and helmet fitting
Tying into the harness
Belaying safely
Climbing movement technique
Building basic rope systems - Top and Bottom roping
Abseiling safely
Getting information from the guidebooks
Choosing a good venue
Bouldering techniques
