Courses can be tailored to the abilities of most, however previous winter hill walking and/or rock climbing experience is beneficial. For any winter day out good warm clothing is essential, as is a reasonable level of fitness.

INTRODUCTION TO SCOTTISH WINTER CLIMBING. Based in the Cairngorms this course aims to give you a taste of what Scottish winter climbing is all about over a weekend or week. You need to have experience of summer climbing and a good level of fitness. If you have no previous winter mountaineering or hillwalking experience a day on winter skills on day 1 will be nessecary. We will look at venues i.e choosing a good one, avalanche and weather awareness, movement on climbing terrain and winter gear placement.

IMPROVERS SCOTTISH WINTER CLIMBING. A course designed to take you a step further, perhaps by exploring some areas other than the typical Ben Nevis and Cairngorms, or by trying a style of winter climbing you have not tried before. We will focus on more detail on climbing movement, winter gear placement and avalanche awareness.

GUIDED ROUTES. Enjoy a week or weekend of classic Scottish winter climbs, with the aim of the course being to get up as many routes as we can. From the mixed masterpieces of the Cairngorms to the icy gullies of Ben Nevis, we can look through the guide books and pick routes to suit your ability and ambitions.
